Merrickville

May 4th, 2008 Paulette No comments

We spent the weekend in Merrickville.  We stayed at Sam Jake’s Inn.

The weather forecast looked gloomy with rain predicted all weekend.  Fortunately we didn’t get rained on.  It was sunny on Saturday, then showers arrived at night and by Sunday the clouds looked threatening for a while but it all cleared up.

It was garage sale day on Saturday in Merrickville.  We arrived at noon and were lucky to have missed the craziness of the early morning mad rush of people trying to get the best bargain.  Apparently it was difficult to drive around.   I’m glad we weren’t there for that.

We ate lunch at an outdoor patio then shopped up and down main street.  We stopped in a few artist studios and picked up some small items.

We had a nice dinner at the Inn.   We watched the Canadiens get eliminated from the playoffs.  Oh well, I’m done with hockey now.  (Maybe I’ll watch Sidney Crosby just a little.)

We had breakfast at the inn and went for a walk taking in the canal locks, the ruins and a lot of beautiful old stone houses and porches.

It was a nice relaxing time.
