We played our first round of golf today at Poplar Grove. I have never played there before. Brian asked us “Are you bringing your helmets?”. Hmmm that’s a strange thing to say.

We arrived to an almost empty parking lot. There were few people on the course.

Once we started playing I could understand what Brian meant. The holes are close together and if there had been a lot of people playing we may have felt like we were targets.

The greens weren’t in great shape and the sand traps had no sand in them but this is my first time out and it fits me just fine.

We had no one with us and just played at our own speed. On one hole we caught up to 3 guys but they without hesitation let us through. I hit probably my best shot of the day as they are watching me. Maybe I need an audience?

We had open holes ahead of us the rest of the way. I have never played golf in under 4 1/2 hours (for 18 holes that is). Today we finished in 3 hours. I like speed golf. I really enjoyed that. We were home just after lunch.
