Kat put chicken bones in her crockpot last night to make a broth. It cooked all night and this morning she strained the liquid and put it in the fridge to cool.
A little later she wanted to take the broth out and make broth cubes out of them so they can be used easily in recipes.
She reached into the fridge and grabbed the broth. Grimace tripped her as she went to put it on the counter. The broth went flying and the entire contents spilled on the floor.
The cat couldn’t believe her luck. Chicken broth all over the floor. She started licking it up.
Kat got the mop and pail. She is trying to clean it up but the cat is attacking the mop. I guess she was protecting her new food source!
She tries to grab the cat who does not want to be caught. The cat freaks out and jumps into the pail of water spilling that onto the floor.
Now Kat is determined to get cat out of the house. She finally manages to capture her and throws her out of the house.
I get a phone call from Kat. “What? Again a kitchen incident? That’s twice this week!”
When I got home Kat said “When I move out I’m not taking the cat.” Then she smiled. Of course she is taking the cat. Not even a morning like this one can make her turn away.
She is our Kitty Kathryn!
Grimace doesn’t like snow. She doesn’t like the cold. I can understand that. She likes to go outdoors but on snowy days this is what happens. “Let me in. Who put this cold white stuff here?”
She is however a very active (hyperactive) cat who needs more space than our home has. When she can’t get out she runs at full speed through the house. She bumps into things, slides across the hardwood floors and sometimes her paws screech as she comes to a stop.
How to handle a hyper cat? Make a kitty run for her. Dave shoveled this path along the back of the house.

Now she can go out the patio door, run back and forth and jump up on the fence to chase the squirrels and taunt the neighbour’s dog.
At least when she comes back inside she is ready for a nap. We keep hearing of cats who sleep 20 hours a day. She isn’t one of them!
Grimace decided to chase the squirrels along the fence, up the tree and across the electrical wires. That’s her about 15 feet off the ground tiptoeing along the cables.
She walked to one end, turned around very gingerly, then walked back. The squirrels were long gone and she was trying to figure out how to get down. She could see Kat at the door and wanted desperately to get back home.
She finally made her way back over near the neighbour’s shed and jumped onto the roof then scampered down the tree. She ran into the house with a “What?” attitude. You have to know this cat to understand.
The neighbour has an old clothes line complete with an old-fashioned wooden post. Grimace thinks this is the perfect spot to keep an eye on things. It’s quite interesting to see her climb up and shimmy her way back down.
At least she stays off the roof of the house. She sounds like a horse galloping when she runs up there!
Grimace is like a perpetual 2 year old. She is into everything and oh so curious.
“My turn, brush my teeth too.”
First you sneak up on the toothpaste.
OK it’s not going anywhere now.
Next you need some water.
Check the temperature. It has to be just right.
Doesn’t my breath smell fresh?
